Courses

Newport News Park
13560 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23603

Newport News Park Disc Golf Course offers a delightful split between a wooded front nine and a more open back nine. This beautiful course is home to deer, turtles, snakes, and the ever-present joggers who prefer running right through your fairway. Most trees are conveniently easy to climb, making it simpler to retrieve your lost discs—if you don’t mind channeling your inner squirrel. And the best part? It’s located in the “safe” part of Newport News, ensuring your disc golfing adventures are as secure as they are scenic.

Waller Mill Park
901 Airport Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188

Nestled in the picturesque woods of James City County, Waller Mill Disc Golf Course is a beloved spot for serious disc golfers, as well as ticks, mosquitoes, and the occasional snake. The scenic holes offer a delightful challenge with rough terrain and an impressive ability to swallow up your discs in leaves, water, or any of the other charming hazards nature provides. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a game while contributing to the local insect population and testing your ability to part ways with your favorite discs.

New Quarter Park
1000 Lakeshead Drive, Williamsburg, VA 23185

Tucked away in James City County, New Quarter Park is the Busch Gardens of disc golf. With rolling hills that add to the challenging gameplay, you’ll also have the pleasure of meeting fire ants, ground bees, and wasps. Don’t forget to GPS tag your discs, as this course has a knack for swallowing up any rogue throws. It’s a very fun course, featuring both tight holes and wide open fairways to test your arms and your patience. If you enjoy a mix of natural beauty and the thrill of not knowing if you’ll see your disc again, this is the place for you!

Bayville Farms Park
4132 First Court Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23455

Bayville Farms is a mostly flat, lightly wooded course that tricks you into thinking it’s easy—right before your disc vanishes into a thicket of thorns or takes a one-way trip into a resident’s backyard. Despite its gentle terrain, this course offers plenty of opportunities to question your life choices, especially when the wind off the Bay decides your disc is now a kite. Home to aggressive squirrels, lurking poison ivy, and confused park-goers wandering down the fairways, it’s a great place to test your aim and your patience.

Dorey Park
2999 Darbytown Rd, Henrico, VA 23231

Dorey Park is like a choose-your-own-adventure book where every path leads to “lost disc.” With a diverse mix of long bombers and technical wood shots, the course layout rewards accuracy and punishes hubris. You’ll find yourself throwing between trees that seem to move when you’re not looking and putting on greens designed by sadists with a love for rollaways. Watch for errant baseballs, off-leash dogs, and confused joggers—all of whom think they’re part of the game. Bonus: Great cell reception so you can immediately post about your triple bogey meltdown.

Bennett’s Creek Park
3000 Bennett’s Creek Park Rd, Suffolk, VA 23435

Bennett’s Creek is a coastal gem that lulls you into a false sense of security with its open fairways before introducing you to its real personality: swampy lowlands, wind tunnels, and water hazards that weren’t there five minutes ago. Tucked into Suffolk, this course features big drives, blind baskets, and baskets tucked just far enough behind trees to make you whisper profanities in front of families. Local wildlife includes ducks, egrets, and the ghosts of lost discs past. Bring bug spray, extra discs, and a solid sense of humor.

Modified Rounds

CTP (Closest to Pin)
Players compete to land their disc closest to the pin (basket) from the tee.

GUERRILLA
Regular tee pads are disregarded. The player currently winning gets to decide where the group throws from within 20ft of a regular LONG tee-pad.

SPIN CYCLE
After winning a hole, the player must throw a disc as dictated by the players with the lowest scores from the previous hole. For example, they might have to use a tomahawk throw with a putter. The objective is to make the best player curse you because you handicap them on every tee!

COMMUNITY CHEST
Each player grabs a disc from another player’s bag. All discs go into the community chest. The player must choose a disc from the community chest as the only disc they can play on each hole. If 6 people are playing. The community chest has 6 discs in it. Discs are chosen on each hole in order of tee off.

RIPT REVENGE
The game is played using the RIPT REVENGE card game, which influences various aspects of gameplay.

PUTTING COMPETITION
Players start close to the basket and must make at least one out of three putts to move back to the next mark. Missing all three putts eliminates the player. The player who makes a putt from the farthest distance wins.

DRIVING DISTANCE
Players each throw three discs from the tee. The farthest throw, measured by a straight line from the tee using a range finder, determines the winner.
